Pretty in Pink

There's just something about pink that makes me feel so girly!  I'm not a huge fan but a touch of pink can go a long way.
These delicate pink glasses remind me that it's summertime.  Perfect for a cocktail while lounging in the warm summer evenings.  And when I think pink, I think roses.
And if you are going to pull out the pretty plates why not go all the way and pull out the silver...
I love to mix and match my silver.  Each piece tells such a story.

Vintage Kitchen

I'm fascinated with the metal kitchen pieces.  Just can't get enough.  Particularly the anything red.  A few of my favorite finds are stools and kitchen gadgets.  One of my favorite finds is this wax paper and paper towel holder combo.
And my kids had a blast with these egg beaters.  They made music, battled each other and were amazed to learn that they were actually egg how times have changed!

We have this great little space behind the shop that was just calling out for attention.  After draping several yards of screening to create a little shade we've started to fill it with wonderful garden finds.  Once the creative juices started flowing the area really took shape.  Salvaged windows and chicken coops are great outdoor items.  Add some rusty metal and you've got yourself a cozy little outdoor room.

Simply Shabby Chic

These Hand Stamped Ribbons, Clothespins and Gift Tags by A Little Scrappy are so perfectly Shabby Chic.  So many uses and so little time.  I have visions of beautifully wrapped gifts adorned with a little french flair.

And the clothespins found a home as impromptu memory holders strung across a vintage dressing mirror.  The possibilities are endless.

Happy Fabric Friday

I'm not up for the challenge of too much repair and renovation when it comes to some of our flea market finds but recovering chairs has become an easy project that I've come to enjoy.  It's fun to see the transformation from a cast-off to a renewed treasure.  And the key is fabric!  I found a bunch of perfectly shabby chic fabrics this week and I can't wait to use them!

White Dishes

My love of white dishes is taking over the store.  I can't get enough.  Simple yet so elegant.  I just want to fill cabinets with stacks of platters and dishes.  The more the merrier.

I love this antique paper box.
Nothing shows off white dishes better than a shabby green cabinet.

Vintage Matchbooks

Vintage matchbooks are so fun to collect.  They are great conversation pieces.  A little history in a small package.  Reminders of days of past when dinner consisted of tuna casseroles and hot dogs where considered a main entree on the weekly dinner menu. These Heinz matchbooks boast recipes and offer a deal for a 30 cent recipe book.  Times sure have changed...

A Little Luxury

Some days I wish I could stay in bed and call room service.  Why does breakfast feel better when served on a tray?  Recently I've found a love of vintage trays.  Check out some of my favorite finds!

Never Know What You're Going to Uncover.

Recently we were out scouting for treasures for the shop when Pam found a wooden box covered in fabric. The fabric had seen better days, to say the least.  I passed it by several times and then gave her my "are you nuts!" look when she told me she wanted it.  I've learned not to argue that everyone has a different vision.  After we got this treasure home I asked Pam what she had planned for it.  She wanted to rip off the dirty fabric and see what we would find.  We found a beautifully well preserved handmade trunk with original sawdust "batting" that had been covered using a vintage Liberty flour sack as muslin.  It was very cool.  I guess it's true, you never know what you're going to find when you start peeling back the layers!

Ophelia's Apothecary

I love this apothecary line.  The products are flying out the door!  Such yummy smelling lip scrubs, body butters, body scrubs, and lip balms.  Fun "wash you mouth out!" tooth soap and even some goodies for your four pawed friends...flea and tick spray Apawthecary!  Come check them out.

New Lines and New Finds

Simply Bungalow has had it's doors opened since May and we are enjoying discovering new lines and new finds.  We have spent hours traveling the roads of Nebraska and Iowa to barn sales, antique shops and swap meets to load the shop with great items.  And I have to admit the thrill of the hunt has got me hooked.
