Farmhouse Christmas

Yes...that's Burlap Strapping!

and crazy me... I decided to use it for decorating this year...

I cut it apart...

And strung it on the Christmas tree

Added a little light...

Nestled it into a Western Stoneware Crock

And I'm on my way to my version of a farmhouse Christmas.

Can't wait to get the ornaments on!

Candles from The Shabby Chic Cottage

I know it's not Thanksgiving yet but the chill in the air is definitely making it feel like winter.  And since the shop is a flutter with signs of Christmas I thought I'd spend the next couple of days sharing some gift ideas and goodies.  This being said I didn't know where to start...
But since I can't imagine a holiday complete without candles I thought I'd start with our newest addition.  Hand stamped candles from The Shabby Chic Cottage.  I can't say enough about how much I love these.  I have been following Gina's blog for some time now and she just has the most amazing ideas and wonderful treasures.

These candles are such a lovely gift.  They are perfect for the "ones who have everything" on your gift list.  They put just the perfect added touch to your table. For more inspiration on cottage decorating check out Gina's blog and get lost in the ideas, I know I do!

Ruffle Garland

I've talked in previous posts about not being ready for Christmas decorating and in desperate need of some inspiration.  So I poured over magazines and blogs.  And I strolled through shops and what I found was that, I'm still not READY for Christmas but nonetheless the shop has got to be decorated.

So I pulled out the trees and decided to do something other than ribbon or typical garland.  For one of the trees I used fringe and going with that idea I then decided to give the other tree a "Ruffle".

Yes, that is pleating material for curtain making.  And I LOVE it.  When pulled tight it looks like ribbon candy.  It's reasonable and totally unexpected.  Two of my favorite things!
The tree isn't completely decorated yet but here's a sneak peek because I just had to share.  Ruffles just make me Happy!

Butterfly Bakery...What a way to end the day!

It's OPEN!
Linda makes the most amazing pastries.
Caramel Apple Cheesecake....why does everything taste better on a stick?!
Mocha Fudge Cupcakes
Dark Chocolate Cupcake
There were just so many wonderfully tasty things I had a hard time choosing.
Because, let's be honest, when it comes to dessert there just are no wrong answers.
Sometimes there's just no words to express my love of chocolate.  I'd rather be tasting these goodies then talking about them, so here's some "eye candy"!

If you have a few minutes head over to her bakery, you won't be disappointed.  She's located at 100 N. 1st. Sweet #3, Lincoln, NE 68508.  Tell her Simply Bungalow sent you!
Have a Sweet Night!

Bluebird Lane

I've been pouring over Etsy in search of one of a kind treasures to add to the shop for the holidays.  I 've found some amazing artisans and one of the ones I love is Bluebird Lane.  I can't wait to get these whimsical gift tags into the shop and Donna is such a lovely lady to work with...

When the box arrived I felt like a kid on Christmas morning.  Everything was packaged so beautifully...
Her attention to detail made me gitty...
Her pride in her product showed through...
I just can't wait to share these with our customers!

Sweet Sentiment

The shop is all a flutter with transforming into a Christmas wonderland but I am still resisting.  My love of Fall decor is holding me back.  One of my favorite new "orange" things to decorate with is Peach Lustre.  I know it's more peach than orange but it is just perfect with bittersweet.  Not only is if a fun accent but it's a conversation starter...
Everyone has a story.  Most often I hear memories of family dinners at Grandma's House.  Or tales of casseroles made in all the wonderful oven proof dishes.  But one of the sweetest things I heard was when a customer put together a set of coffee mugs, small plates and cereal bowls to take home with her.  She told me that it reminded her of her grandmother and she couldn't think of a better way to start the morning then lingering over her coffee and thinking of her grandmother.
The sentiment was so sweet.

Flowers in Her Hair...Flowers Everywhere!

With Christmas creeping up on us, we've been working at finding new lines of gift items that are unique and one of a kind.  This week we found a fun line of flowers.  They come in single...
in doubles...
and on headbands for both adults and children...
They are just adorable and handmade locally!

Looking for Inspiration

This being the first Christmas as a shopkeeper I am having a hard time getting into the groove.  I love decorating for Christmas but I feel like we are skipping over Thanksgiving.  And since that's my favorite holiday I'm having a hard time putting away the pumpkins and leaves and pulling out the trees and santas.  So, today I went strolling the aisles of the local fabric store for inspiration and here's what I came up with...
Fringe...beautiful silky fringe.  And my first thought was...Garland!  That's right I decided to use it as garland on one of the trees that is going to be in the shop.  I wasn't sure how it was going to work but it was on Sale so I thought I'd give it a try.
So up went the tree and on went the garland and...
Although the ornaments aren't on yet I think I like it!

I'm linking up with The Shabby Chic Cottage for Transformation Thursday and Tinsel & Company for Deck the Halls Friday. So many fun things to see go check it out!
