Basket Weaving Classes...

Join us for Basket Weaving Classes with Deb Johnson...

This is going to be a fun class...you will be learning and finishing the Square Market Basket during the class. There are two dates available...Saturday, March 10th or Saturday, March 17th at 10:00am. The class is about 2 hours long. The cost is $40.00 and all supplies will be provided for you. Itty Bitty Paper Flowers...

Barb from thoughtfulimagesink will be teaching this fun class. You will learn 3 different sizes of roses and will leave with 3 unique creations. This class in on Thursday, February 9th at 6pm and the cost is $18.00. All materials will be provided.

Beginning Rug Hooking...

Jan Hall and Judy Roth of Gatherings on the Blue / River House Rug Hooking Shop will be teaching this class...Saturday, February 11th from 9am-3pm.

The cost is $125.00 and includes the River House Star Kit, all the materials needed to complete the project and Lunch.

They will teach the history of rug hooking, the technique of primitive wide cut hooking and get you started on your first hooked mat from kits they prepare for you.

Pinterest Inspired Flowers...

Kashoan from KraftyKash and Andrea will be teaching several different flower designs pulled from Pinterest. Thursday, February 23rd at 6pm. The cost is $15.00 and all materials will be provided. Grab some friends and join in the fun.

Inspired Class...First Class is Thursday, January 26th at 6pm. Kashoan from KraftyKash and Andrea will be teaching this class on...

T-Shirt Scarves...

The cost of this class is $15.00 and includes a tutorial on 3 different scarf styles. One T-shirt will be provided for you. You are welcome to bring additional shirts to make all 3 designs. Bring some friends and join in the fun! And check back monthly to see what's planned for the following month.

We also have a beautiful Beginner's Wool Applique Class...

Blackberry Primitives will be teaching a Beginner's Wool Applique Class

on Friday, January 27th and Friday, February 3rd

from 1-3pm.

The cost of the class is $85.00 and will include Maggie Bonanomi's "Buttonwood Farm" Book and a kit to make her Bird Applique.

And an Amazing Beginner's Rug Hooking Class...

Jan Hall and Judy Roth of Gatherings on the Blue / River House Rug Hooking Shop will be offering two dates for this class...

Saturday, January 28th and Saturday, February 11th

from 9am-3pm.

The cost is $125.00 and includes the River House Star Kit, all the materials needed to complete the project and Lunch.

Between these two guest teachers they have 25 years experience in hooking rugs, wool dying and color planning. Hooking is their passion so don't miss this opportunity.

This is so true!

I often look at where I am today, having opened the shop just a little over a year ago after some significant life changing events that lead me down this path. I wasn't sure how it would all go and never could have imagined all that has come out of chasing this dream.

This adventure has provided so many amazing opportunities to CREATE...has taught me how to NURTURE my DREAM. And left me excited and INSPIRED to get up and try new things everyday.

This class will be held on Thursday, October 6th from 6-8pm. Barb from Thoughtful Images Ink will be teaching the class. You will learn two different types of paper pumpkins and will leave with 3 pumpkins perfect for Autumn decorating!

Beginning Earring Class!

This class will be held on Thursday, October 13th from 6-8pm. Jean from By Jean will be teaching this class on how to make earrings. Come and create 3 pairs of earrings and learn the basics of jewelry making. This is a great way to get started on a fun hobby.

Autumn Paper Flowers!

This class will be held on Saturday, October 15th from 1-3pm. Barb from Thoughtful Images Ink will be teaching this class. You will learn 3 types of flowers a Mum, a Sunflower and a mini Black Eyed-Susan.

Harvest Card Making!

While lingering over some of my favorite blogs I came across a post by Martha at Authentica Classics.

If you haven't seen her grainsack pillows you should check them out they are AMAZING!

But that's not what the post was about (sorry I get side tracked sometimes!). This post was about bobbins and the industrial looms.

These types of machines just amaze me. And as luck would have it just the other day I came across a piece that I just had to have.

This was found on a recent barn picking and I can't take credit it was my mom, Pam who found this.

But when she brought it back to the shop I claimed it for myself!

I just LOVE it!

But then I have a love of vintage sewing notions...

Which is funny for a girl who can't sew a stitch!

And yet I am forever filling up old Mason jars with buttons...

There is just something so simple and so beautiful that I have to take them home with me!

Land of the Free ~ Home of the Brave...

Road- Tripping has always been one of my favorite things to do. So yesterday we loaded up the kiddos and off we went. Like all 3 and 6 year olds they enjoyed it for all of 20 minutes before they wanted to know where we were headed. Since I had no specific destination in mind it was time to get creative. I always have my trusty camera with me so we decided to see how many American Flags we could find along the way.

The kids had a blast taking the pictures and scanning the countryside for sightings of the gold old "red, white and blue"...

A New Space to Create...

Thank you to all that came out to celebrate the opening of our new Creative Space!

The cleaning took place up to the last second and I'm sure I could've loaded it with more fun treasures but sometimes time just runs out!

So, here's how it looked...

Things are coming along nicely with our new space and we've booked our first class in our Creative Space.

I'm thinking I need to give this space a name but it hasn't come to me yet....(sorry I get off track easily!)

Heather from Re-Creations will be teaching a class on paint distressing. She will be providing cabinet doors to teach the technique and you will leave with a handmade sign.

Green with Envy...

I spent yesterday in a little slice of heaven...

With an amazing couple who opened their home to share their collections...

There were many collections, that will surely warrant more posts but I wanted to share the collection that took my breath away and left me "green with envy"...

I've never seen so many lovely jadeite pieces in one place...

Of Minty Green Goodness...

Some pieces of which I had never seen...

Everywhere I turned there was more to see...

A truly impressive amount of treasures.

And this wasn't the only collection

that made me green with envy..

This too made my heart do a little pitter-patter dance. This is only a tease...

An Ever Changing Collection...

Lilacs for a lovely lady...

I often sit down to write this blog and wonder if I should add a little more personal info to let you all get to know me better. I'll sensor you from some of the crazy that I call life but I thought it'd be fitting that I add some more of "me" to these posts. So with all the lilacs in bloom I can't help but think about my grandmother. They were her favorites...

And since she passed only 6 months ago, I often find myself stopping to "smell the lilacs". I think losing someone often makes you do that...

My sweet grandmother's passing was quite a shock. She was diagnosed with cancer and was gone a short 3 months later. And the sweet scent of the lilacs brings back so many wonderful memories for me.

There is something so nostalgic about lilacs...

For me, they are so full of memories...of a woman so sweet, so kind and so full of life that she filled a room with her presence even though she was a mire 5 foot tall. A woman who loved people, loved life and was so easy to love.

Grand Re-Opening Celebration!

We cut it close....finally made it home around midnight on Friday night. I had my doubts, my wow how is it going to come together moments, and even my what was I thinking thoughts.

But we did it! The shop re-opened on Saturday just as we had planned.

We have the most amazing customers that came out to celebrate with us!

As we approach the opening of the new location there is so much going on and so much to share! This week I've been helping our friend the Garage Sale Diva aka Cindy with her annual Garage Sale. This lady knows how to put on a SALE!

When One Door Closes, Another Door Opens

My last post left some unanswered questions that I thought it might be time to answer.

NO!...We are not going out of business. We were recently faced with not having the lease renewed at our current location. We were taken completely by surprise. But since life often throws curves balls we decided to just roll with.

And as luck would have it "when one door closes, another door opens..."

And we just couldn't be more thrilled with our new location!

(even though it needs a little work...)

Our space has TRIPLED! Yes, it's daunting...

See the deep reddish color...the whole room was that color! And in order to make it feel more like a cottage we decided we wanted to make it a buttery yellow.

Thanks to an amazing friend and painter this beautiful color now graces the walls....MUCH BETTER!

Now on to the WALLPAPER!!!

It took some doing but we did manage to peel away the very "vintage" wallpaper.

Next step?!....You'll have to wait and see!

Lightening the Load...

I've had quite a full plate lately. What's the saying..."when it rains it pours?" Well it's been flooding around here! So, without boring you with tales of my hair pulling crazy making times I thought I'd just skip to the rainbow after the rain!

After lots of soul searching and hours of quiet contemplation (yeah right who am I kidding! I have a 3 year old I have no time for quiet contemplation!)

There are some big changes on the horizon for our little "Bungalow"...

I can't share all the details right now but I can give you some hints!

Time is of the essence and I'm not sure if it's on our side as we embark on this journey!

But part of our plan includes lightening the load...

What does this mean...well SALE of course!

I knew the moment I saw it I had to have it. Why? I have no idea I just LOVE it.

I love the scallop edge.

Mixed with a little burlap.

Add a couple vintage clothespins.

and hang it from the ceiling!

and when I was done with that...

I took this landscape basket and hung it from the ceiling too!

Pop Bottle Flower Frog

When all else fails get creative!

While setting the shop up I kept tripping over a galvanized boiler that I had stashed a load of pop bottles in when I had no better place to store them. So when I was faced with the dilemma of figuring our how to display the amazing pussy willow branches I had just gotten into the shop, I literally tripped over my solution.

Fresh Cut Pussy Willow Branches

Stick the branches in the bottles.

Stack the bottles into the container. These are quite heavy so they work great!

And ta-da!

Now go out and find some branches and bottles and do some arranging!

Step Stool Makeover

A while back I found a wonderful step stool makeover at Mamie Jane's and I just couldn't get it off my mind. I had to give it a try.

So I found this sweet little black step stool.

And figured it'd be fun to "dress"it up a bit...

I dug through my pile of feedsacks and decided this would be a perfect "outfit".

I added a little foam padding and a little muslin lining.

And then decked it out with a little Vigor and Vitality...

I love how it turned out. And even more fun...

Here's what's left of the feedsack. These cute chickens are bound to find their way into another project.

I had a quick trip to Nashville, Tennessee to visit family and it was such a tease! The weather was beautiful and the promise of Spring was in the air.
